Why this tour

The photos you came to Paris for

"Paris is one of the most photogenic cities in the world. You deserve photos that actually show that."

— Valérie Marini, professional photographer in Paris since 2013

📍
We meet at an iconic Paris landmark

Choose from 4 routes: Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Notre-Dame, or Montmartre. Easy metro access from anywhere in the city — no need to know Paris.

📷
You shoot. I guide in real time.

No classroom, no slides. You take photos and I show you, on the spot, what makes the difference — light, framing, timing. Works with any camera or iPhone.

🎯
You leave with photos you're proud of

Better than any postcard. Real Paris, shot by you, the way you felt it — not from the back of a tour bus. You'll also know how to repeat it on your own.

💌
A PDF recap sent after the walk

A simple illustrated guide summarising everything we covered — so you can keep improving long after your Paris trip.

What you'll learn

Real skills, not just great memories

Everything is taught outdoors, in real conditions, on real subjects. No theory sessions, no slides. You shoot, you learn, you improve — immediately.

Whether you have a professional camera or just your iPhone, you'll leave with techniques you can use for the rest of your trip — and beyond.

01
Exposure — light, shutter speed, aperture

The difference between a blurry tourist snap and a crisp, well-lit photo. You'll understand it in minutes — on the actual fountain in front of you.

02
Composition — how to frame Paris

Why some photos feel "right" and others don't. Simple rules of framing, leading lines and balance — using Paris's architecture as your practice board.

03
Natural light — making the most of it

Why the same spot looks completely different at 8am vs 2pm. You'll learn to read the light and position yourself for the best result.

04
Portraits in Paris — people and places together

How to pose, where to stand, how to use depth to separate your subject from the background. Come with a travel companion — leave with stunning portraits.

Detailed routes

Every walk, step by step

All routes include public toilets, green spaces and café stops. Don't worry about navigation — I'll meet you at the starting point and lead the way.

📍 Meeting point: Place du Trocadéro (75016)
🚇 Metro: Trocadéro — Line 6 / 9
Coffee break: Café de l'Homme or Champ de Mars
🚻 Toilets: Trocadéro & Champ de Mars
Best for: iconic Eiffel Tower shots, architectural perspectives, romantic photos by the Seine — and a few angles most tourists never find.
  • Start
    Place du Trocadéro

The classic view everyone knows — and the perfect place to learn framing and handle backlit subjects. We set up your camera settings here.

Early morning: the golden light on the Tower is spectacular and the crowds haven't arrived yet.
  • Stop 1
    Pont d'Iéna

Cross the bridge the way locals do. Strong lines, Seine reflections, and the Tower looming above — a completely different perspective from the Trocadéro.

  • End of walk
    Pont de Bir-Hakeim

The metal arches create a cinematic tunnel straight toward the Eiffel Tower. This is the Inception bridge — and one of the best portrait spots in Paris.

Get here before 9am for an empty frame. After 10am it's busy with influencers and tour groups.
Paris photo walk – Pont de Bir-Hakeim and Eiffel Tower
📍 Meeting point: Pont de la Concorde (75007)
🚇 Metro: Palais Royal — Line 1 / 7
Coffee break: Café Marly (under the Louvre arcades)
🚻 Toilets: Cour Napoléon & Palais Royal
Best for: geometry lovers, reflections, and getting a feel for the grand royal axis of Paris — from the Seine to the Pyramid.
  • Start
    Pont de la Concorde

A sweeping view of the Seine and the Assemblée Nationale. We start here to set up your camera and practice framing a wide scene.

The morning light reflecting off the Seine from this bridge is one of Paris's best-kept secrets.
  • Stop 1
    Place de la Concorde

The obelisk, the grand fountains, the perspective all the way to the Louvre. Perfect for learning shutter speed: freeze the water at 1/2000s, or turn it into silk at 1/30s.

We compare the same shot at different speeds side by side on your camera. The difference is instant and extraordinary.
  • Stop 2
    Tuileries Garden — Grand Basin

Symmetry, reflections and a quiet royal atmosphere. Great for practising composition and taking natural-light portraits with Paris as a backdrop.

  • End of walk
    Louvre Pyramid

Glass, light and geometry. We practise exposure here: comparing underexposed, correct and overexposed shots of the same scene in real time.

Beautiful at blue hour — some evening sessions end here as the lights come on around the Pyramid.
Paris photo walk – Louvre Pyramid and Palais Royal
📍 Meeting point: Notre-Dame Cathedral (75004)
🚇 Metro: Cité — Line 4 / Saint-Michel — RER B & C
Coffee break: Square René-Viviani
🚻 Toilets: Square René-Viviani & Saint-Michel
Best for: medieval atmosphere, quiet side streets, unique lateral views of Notre-Dame, and intimate photos along the Seine.
  • Start
    Notre-Dame Cathedral — Parvis

The newly restored Notre-Dame in all its glory. We start here to understand wide-angle composition and how to photograph large monuments without distortion.

  • Stop 1
Quai de Bourbon — Île Saint-Louis

The quieter island next door. Haussmann facades, soft riverside light, and a pace that lets you focus. Great for practising portraits in natural urban light.

  • Stop 2
    Rue des Jardins Saint-Paul

A medieval alley with Paris's oldest remaining city walls. Texture, depth, close-up details — perfect for practising depth of field on non-human subjects.

  • End of walk
    Place des Vosges

Paris's oldest and most elegant square. The arcades create a beautiful diffused light for portraits. A perfect end to the walk — and great for a coffee under the arches.

The Place des Vosges at late afternoon, when light streams through the arcades, is one of the most beautiful sights in Paris.
Paris photo walk – Notre-Dame and Île de la Cité
📍 Meeting point: Place des Abbesses (75018)
🚇 Metro: Abbesses — Line 12
Coffee break: Square Louise Michel
🚻 Toilets: Abbesses & Sacré-Cœur
Best for: village atmosphere, winding staircases, bohemian energy and a panoramic view across all of Paris from the steps of Sacré-Cœur.
  • Start
    Le Ronsard — Place Saint-Pierre

At the foot of the Butte Montmartre. Easy access by metro. We start with a street photography warm-up in this lively square.

  • Stop 1
    Sacré-Cœur — steps & panorama

The view over Paris from the steps is iconic. We practice composition with plunging lines and learn how to handle the harsh midday light typical of elevated spots.

At sunrise, Paris often sits in a layer of mist below you. A completely different — and extraordinary — atmosphere for photos.
  • End of walk
    Place du Tertre

Artists, cobblestones and old village charm. We end with an exercise on photographing people in a busy public place — candid shots and environmental portraits.

FAQ

Questions from travellers

None whatsoever. This walk is designed for complete beginners. If you know how to turn your camera on and point it at something, you're ready. More than 40% of participants come with just their iPhone and leave with photos they're genuinely proud of.

Yes, entirely. Valérie is fluent in English and all teaching, explanations and tips are in English. You won't need any French to follow the walk or understand the content.

Absolutely. Modern iPhones and Android smartphones are excellent photography tools. The techniques taught — composition, light, framing — apply to any device. You'll be amazed at what your phone can do once you know how to use it.

Light rain or overcast skies are actually great for photography — soft, even light with no harsh shadows. The walk runs in most weather conditions. Only in case of heavy rain or an orange/red weather alert will we reschedule. If we cancel, you're fully refunded or rescheduled at no extra cost.

Yes, from around age 12 with a parent. It can be a wonderful family experience — children often pick up photography instincts very quickly. Mention the ages in your booking request and I'll adapt the pace and content accordingly.

All four walks start at a major landmark with excellent metro connections — Trocadéro (lines 6/9), Palais Royal (lines 1/7), Cité (line 4) or Abbesses (line 12). After you book, I'll send you exact meeting instructions with a map link and my phone number so you can find me easily.

Of course. Gift vouchers are available by email and are valid for 12 months. Just contact me with a note and I'll create a personalised voucher for you.

Early morning (7–9am) and golden hour before sunset are the best: warm light, fewer crowds, and the city at its most beautiful.
